SECTIONAL GARAGE DOORS FAQS

Here is a list of some of the most frequently asked questions regarding sectional garage doors and the answers to them.

What are the benefits of sectional garage doors?

Sectional garage doors offer superb functionality with relatively little maintenance as well as high level security features. You can park right next to them, meaning that they are highly space efficient and while they may not be available in as many styles and colours as other types of garage door, the choice has never been greater.

How do I measure for a sectional garage door?

Measuring for a sectional garage door is essential to get the right fit for your property. When measuring you need to be aware of whether you’re ordering for an installation that is going to in-between or inside a structural opening, as the measurements you need will vary based on that.  Please have a read through our measuring guide for more details.

Can sectional doors be automated?

Sectional doors are ideal for automation and this can be easily arranged for you. If you’re interested in having electric garage doors, sectional doors could be the perfect option.

How long will it take for my doors to be installed?

As each door that we supply is made to measure, we usually aren’t able to offer a guaranteed delivery date at the point of ordering. This is because manufacturing time varies from job to job so while we will always keep you up-to-date with the process, we will usually need to contact you to arrange a delivery date as soon as we know the door has been manufactured.

How do sectional garage doors attach to the garage opening?

Sectional garage doors ideally need to be fitted to the back of the structural opening or, if need be, they can be fitted in between the opening. There are several considerations to make, such as whether there’s an internal face and how much headroom it will leave. We can assist you with this during the site survey to determine if a sectional garage door is the right fit for your property.

How much headroom will I need for a sectional door?

For most sectional garage doors in the UK, you’ll need between 100mm and 220mm of headroom to accommodate the tracks – this is above the height of the door you order. If there’s not sufficient space in your garage, you’ll need to look at how the gap is finished between the top of the door and the shortfall in space. This can usually be sorted with a steel fascia section.

Do you offer a warranty on your doors?

We’re confident in the quality of the doors we supply and our high standard of workmanship, which is why we provide a one-year installation warranty from the date of install. This is in addition to the manufacturers’ terms and conditions.

Do you offer repairs for sectional garage doors?

Yes, our team can help you if your sectional garage door has developed a fault or is in need of repair. We’ll arrange a site visit to assess the problem and provide you with a detailed quote for the work required. Please contact us to arrange a visit.

How much will it cost to have a sectional garage door installed?

Our installation fee starts at £150 though more complicated installations, such as automated doors, will incur a higher fee of around £250. If you’d like us to install your new garage door, get in touch and we can arrange a free site survey at a time that’s convenient to you to provide you with a more detailed quote.
