Garage Door Installation Stoneleigh GRP Side Hinged

Stoneleigh, Surrey

We recently replaced this customer’s old timber garage doors with a maintenance-free Corporate Door Company Betchworth GRP side-hinged garage door. Our customer opted for white, with stippled Perspex windows and a black handle.

By replacing the old timber doors with a GRP side-hinged garage door, we kept the traditional look the customer wanted while providing a lower maintenance solution. The finished result gives the garage a neat, smart appearance and makes GRP a great replacement for timber.

Our customer was so pleased with this home improvement that he left us a 5-star Google review: “I am delighted with the installation from the initial enquiry right through to the fitting of the new doors. Excellent product and service.” Our GRP garage doors are made to order, made to measure, available in almost any colour, and made in Britain. Contact the team for more information on our range of GRP garage doors.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Garage door was fitted six years ago. It developed a fault and I phoned the office. Spoke to an engineer who advised that I tried replacing batteries in the system. New batteries solved the problem. Much cheaper than a call out fee. So it's not all about company profit, more about customer service. Hurrah

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wessex installed our garage door a couple of years and we were very happy with both the service and the actual product.
When one of the springs popped off I called and spoke with Beth who arranged for a new spring to be dropped off to me whilst I was away which I fitted in seconds and all works perfectly again.
Excellent service, high quality product and design and really nice people to deal with.

FAQs

How long are composite and GRP garage doors guaranteed for?: Guarantee periods vary depending on the manufacturer, door model, finish and operating mechanism selected. The Wessex Garage Doors team will explain the cover included with your chosen composite or GRP garage door before installation, including any separate guarantees that apply to the door, automation system or other components.
What colours and wood-effect finishes are available for composite garage doors?: Composite garage doors are available in a wide choice of colours, including selected RAL and BS shades, depending on the manufacturer. Realistic wood-effect finishes such as oak, cherry, cedar and mahogany may also be available, allowing you to achieve the appearance of timber without the same level of ongoing maintenance.
What are composite and GRP garage doors made from, and are they the same as fibreglass?: GRP stands for glass-reinforced polyester and is commonly referred to as fibreglass. It is a type of composite material made by reinforcing resin with fine glass fibres. This creates a strong, lightweight and weather-resistant surface that can be moulded into different designs, including realistic woodgrain finishes.
Are composite garage doors available in side-hinged and up-and-over styles?: Yes, composite and GRP garage doors are available in several configurations, including side-hinged and up-and-over designs. Up-and-over doors may use canopy or retractable mechanisms, while side-hinged doors provide straightforward pedestrian-style access. Availability will depend on the manufacturer, opening size and practical requirements of your garage.
Can composite or GRP garage doors be repaired?: Many faults affecting composite or GRP garage doors can be repaired, particularly problems involving locks, handles, springs, cables, automation or other operating components. Minor surface damage may also be repairable in some cases. Where the main door panel has suffered significant structural damage, replacement may be the safer and more cost-effective option.
Are composite and GRP garage doors secure?: Composite and GRP garage doors can provide a strong and secure solution when combined with a suitable frame, reliable locking system and professional installation. The overall level of security will depend on the door design, mechanism and specification selected, so it is important to choose a product that matches how the garage is used.
How do I maintain a composite or GRP garage door?: Composite garage doors require relatively little maintenance. Clean the surface periodically using warm water, a soft cloth and a mild detergent, avoiding abrasive products that could affect the finish. Hinges, locks, tracks and other moving parts should also be checked regularly and maintained in line with the manufacturer’s guidance.
How long do composite and GRP garage doors last?: A well-made and professionally installed composite garage door should provide many years of reliable service. Its lifespan will depend on the product quality, frequency of use, exposure to the weather and how well the operating components are maintained. GRP itself is resistant to rust, rot, splitting and warping, helping the door retain its appearance over time.
How much do composite garage doors cost, and do you price match?: The cost of a composite garage door depends on its size, style, finish, operating mechanism, glazing, automation and installation requirements. Wessex Garage Doors can provide a tailored quotation after discussing your needs and assessing the opening. Any price-match wording should be confirmed against the client’s current policy before this answer is published.
How do I measure for a composite or GRP garage door?: Initial measurements should cover the width and height of the opening, together with the available space at the sides, above the opening and inside the garage. However, small differences can affect which door and mechanism will fit. A professional site survey is therefore recommended before ordering, allowing the measurements and installation requirements to be confirmed accurately.
